Feliz Navidad!
Tonight, I was reminded of a time we were eating at El Maquey in July, 2009.
A few minutes after we were seated, I looked down the table and saw Corey and Justin with the most puzzled looks on their faces. They looked at each other and started busting up laughing.
They turned their looks toward me, and waited for me to react to whatever they were laughing at. They were laughing so hard, their faces were red and Corey had tears rolling down his cheek.
Then I saw Josh’s face light up as he realized what was so funny… and then Bob began to laugh too.
Finally, I realized what they were laughing at… The music playing in the restaurant was Christmas music!
As I made this realization, Corey grabbed the server as he hurried by. He asked, “Uh… Did you realize you guys have Christmas music on?”
The waiter (without missing a beat) said, “Yes. Merry Christmas!” then walked off. This became too much for any of us, and the entire table melted into fits of laughter.
I miss laughing that hard. I know we will again. And Corey will be there when we do.
