Today a bittersweet day for us. After a loss like this, you not only re-define yourself, you re-define your traditions.
Usually, I’d be chasing after the boys to get any messes cleaned up before guests arrived. Corey and I would be putting the leaves in our table, digging out the table cloth, selecting our china, and gathering enough chairs for our guests.
This year, we are taking things easy. The table is staying its normal size, and our regular plates will serve just fine. We are still having turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings.
But instead of chasing the boys around trying to make sure everything is perfect, I’m sitting quietly with Josh and Bob watching the Macy’s Parade. Justin is asleep in his room.
After a loss like we’ve endured this year, its painfully clear that Thanksgiving will be here again next year… but any one of us may not.
Make today more about the Thanks and Giving than the ritual. You’ll be happy you did.
And Thank YOU for supporting us during this time.
